Those of you who like the deviations in the gallery – note that this is a club so if you :+fav: here, artists can't know you like their work. Please follow the links to the original deviations. Thank you.

Are there any rules for accounts being used as clubs or 'group' accounts?

There has been an alarming increase in the amount of groups created with the express purpose of drawing attention to its members in ways that violate deviantART policy. Members of these groups also participate in individual acts of system abuse by adding all work to their own favorites as well. To curb this, the following changes have been implemented.

New Groups.
New groups formed with the intent of abusing the favorites system or acting as a general nuisance will be banned immediately and permanently, as well as the deviants in charge of that particular group.

Existing Groups.
Any existing group that is found to be exploiting the system through abuse (such as Favorites Abuse or coordinated spamming or harassment) will also be banned immediately and permanently. Deviants who see this type of abuse going on are encouraged to submit a Help Desk Report, and the Policy Enforcement Administrators will see to it that the matter is researched accordingly.

Group Members
In addition to the groups themselves being banned, any members of these groups could also face immediate administrative action. Knowingly participating in a group that encourages or engages in this type of conduct will warrant a ban.

While we do not discourage deviants from forming groups so that like-minded individuals may share art, experiences, and resources; we do expect that these groups abide by the policies in place. Let me reiterate this point: This only applies to groups that are abusing the favorites system or who may be otherwise acting as a general nuisance.

Favourites Abuse
Groups may not have work from their members in their favourites. They are allowed to have work of non-members in their favourites. However if one of those deviants becomes a member of the club at a later time, you would have to remove their work from the 'Favorites' listing.

Current Beatnik Club Challenges:
To all interested Deviant Artists: Challenge #1

Challenge #1:

This challenge is something i conceived of last year (2006) and issued it on mypace and had quite a response, i have blogged the challenge and the results at http://www.myspace.com/lesvaches
and would like to extend the invitation to all DeviantArt members to participate in the challenge, the result of which to be posted as a Deviation or Journal Entry and/or added to the Beatnik Club.
It can be a painting, sketch, literature, film, photo, musical composition, ANYTHING!
There is no time limit to this neither is the first try the only try, do this as often as you like and as many variations thereof as you like.

the subject I have chosen is the word beat:

- beat in a regular rhythm, throb, as the heart does: Pulsate
- beat or buffet with or as if with a club: Baste, Bludgeon, Cudgel, Fustigate

- beating or striking of a surface, as by sound on the eardrum or by a stick on a drum: Percussion
- beating with a stick, especially on the soles of the feet, or the stick used: Bastinado
- punishment, as formerly in the army in which two lines of men beat an offender running between them: Gauntlet

defeat
- outperform, outshine, as in a competition: Eclipse, Excel, Surpass
- defeat oneself by being to ambitious: Overreach
- defeat or overcome, as in battle: vanquish
- defeat overwhelmingly, crush, trounce: Devaste, Pulverise, Rout, Crucify
